You can pine all day long for the nostalgic ideas of 3rd parties, but until someone or large groups of someone's can garner enough money to take over and control the mass media we're stuck with 2 parties. It's the monied interests that control politics and not mere wishful thinking about the 3rd party that has yet to make any significant dent.
The Rs and Ds still control by far the lions share of all the wealth in the world and without a militaristic overthrow they'll continue to control it...and who do you suppose controls the military?  Hint: It ain't 3rd party candidates.

Once Trump finishes his only term in office he can then be prosecuted fully and probably convicted and hopefully sent to serve the rest of his days in a maximum security prison.
It's probably never going to happen, but in legalese it could conceivably occur.
I'd prefer he be sent to Guantanamo and held in the Muslim radical section.. That would be some sweet justice.. It won't happen, but gee, sure would make my balls tingle with delight..

The most likely source for a moderately successful third party right now, alas, are the teabaggers, and all it will take is someone like the Kochs to bankroll it.

On the plus side, that would fracture the GOP right up the middle and a lot of congressional districts might go blue when the other votes are split between the classic GOP and the wingnuts.

One other thing occurs to me, and I not only don't have a good answer either way on it, I don't even know which way I lean.

If a President is impeached in the House and convicted in the Senate over a criminal matter, would further legal proceedings in the criminal court system constitute double jeopardy under the Fifth Amendment?

I don't think so.  Conviction in the Senate only results in loss of office, not jail time.

Ah, of course.  The Orange Disaster Area is perfectly happy to release a Republican memo against the advice of both his DoJ and the FBI, but oh no he has to block the Democrats' memo, even though its release was unanimously approved by the House Intelligence committeeâ€"unlike Nunes' crayon scribblings, which went out on a party-line vote.  You know, the one that had a Russian-backed social media push to have it released.

This House would have already impeached any Democratic President who had done a tenth of this shit.  So instead of #ReleaseTheMemo, how about #FuckingRepublicanHypocrites?

The Republican memo was redacted, because it had to be.  The Democrat memo can be released too, after it is redacted.  It is D-party psychosis ... that there is a vast Right Wing conspiracy to aid our Reptilian invaders.  And of course R-party is hypocrites, they are traitors, same as the D-party traitors.  Y'all get a room, in the dark, with knives, and we will see who, if anyone, makes it out.  I can definitely not mind losing 200 million mentally broken Americans.  The remaining 120 million of us, won't miss either of you.
