I catch flies inside by hand.  My cats are envious.  If you haven't carefully fed a grabbed housefly into a VFT trap to see it close suddenly, you don't know what lethality is, LOL!  I LOVE those things...

The rainwater is for my 6 Venus Fly traps.  I should have explained...  They don't deal well with chlorinated tap water.  That's why most VFTs people buy die.

But I suppose the rainwater would be good in an emergency.  Better than drinking the pond water.

Takes scum to know pond scum? (sarc).  Some of the best biological species I know are scum.

Actually I would be afraid of the amoebas and other tiny critters.  Drink them, and die.

If you ever visit up this way, I will take you to the carnivorous plants section of the local conservatory.  I really didn't think they'd survive all that well in Ohio, but they do fine even though they're kept outside year-round.  Flytraps, pitcher plants, I think sundews too.

I kept VFTs several years ago, and I was shocked when it flowered.  I had no idea they had flowers.
