Well, it's not like we're expecting him to do anything.

I wouldn't say Trump ignored Harvey...

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/08/28/us/politics/trump-finland-harvey-arpaio-russia.html?mcubz=0

QuoteWASHINGTON â€" President Trump offered a fiery defense on Monday of his decision to pardon Joe Arpaio, the former Arizona sheriff, as Hurricane Harvey made landfall in Texas last week â€" and claimed he timed it to attract maximum attention as television viewers were glued to storm coverage.

In local news, he has been spending most of his time here in Texas talking about how great the crowds are and treating the whole Harvey disaster as a sideshow to boost his own coverage. And look, that's one thing for a celebrity do... shit, it's even one thing for a president to do it... but it is not presidential in the least to boast about it. If you don't feel bad for the victims, at least spend 5 minutes looking like you do and keep you fucking mouth shut.

What he is literally say is that Hurricane Harvey victims, the worst natural disaster to hit the most powerful state in the union, are all just tools to feed his ego and to bring more attention to the fact that he has yet again defended and pardoned extreme racism, this time not from third-party groups but from a government official. The worst part is this almost feels normal now, when this is absolutely not in the fucking least normal.

Thank God Joel Osteen and his mega church in Houston.  I'm sure his mega church is opening it's arms to the needy--and I'm sure he is opening all the rooms in his 10 million dollar home, as well.  There really is nothing quite as effective as christian giving!

Trump's on the scene now.  Haven't these poor people suffered enough?

Just another politician kissing water logged babies.  And stealing their candy while they do.  A D party person would never do that (cough).

Somewhat on the scene, anyways; he wasn't allowed to go to Houston, because everyone thought he would cause more harm than good.

Let that sink in that a president of the United States isn't allowed into a major city after a national tragedy because it's feared he will just make things worse rather than pulling things together. Not even Bush or Nixon was that despised.

It's not a new thing. Bush Senior wanted to come to San Diego when we were having flooding there, back in the '80s. The Governor told him to FOAD.

Interesting that a Houston businessman who owns a few furniture stores in the city has opened his showrooms up as a place of refuge for the flood victims.  This was done while Joel Osteen was whining that his mega church could not open because it was flooded.  I live within radio distance of Fresno, and they have a very conservative station (KMJ)--was running some errands and listened to it for a few minutes.  Two of their most conservative dj's were talking about Osteen and his mega church.  They were questioning why this perfect refuge was not open, why Osteen was lying about it and then talking about how some people were on the grounds of the mega church and were filming (with their phones) the dryness of the place.  They wanted to know why this tax free church was not open, since this church was able to handle over 16000 people, with shelter, water, sewer facilities, etc.  They really raked him over the coals, which surprised me a bit--in a good way.

Later, Osteen did open his mega church--the wonder of internet shame.  Doubt he will open any of his 10 million dollar mansion, tho.  Surely Jesus would not do that!

Bush Jr did so well, with Katrina.  If he had a brain cell, he would have stayed away too.  And Nixon was liberal compared to R leaders today ... not unlike Hillary actually ;-)

Interesting. Never liked Bush Sr. , but I never thought of him as being that shitty. You have to be really unpopular to be told as the president by one of your governors to stay away.

I don't know The context and all, but could also have been an Asshole of a senator.
