While "uneducated" does not necessarily mean "stupid", it does suggest a lack of understanding the world of facts.  The day is long past when a smart person could basically gain a comprehensive understanding of the world on his/her own.

But deliberately ignoring facts just puts one further left on the bell curve...
Ahhh...Laughing Buddha say's, "This one is too sad..."

Facts are only small parts of the equation. Introspection can impart to you, a much more valuable tool: self-awareness. Without it, facts are of little benefit to any human equation.

Misunderstanding, begins with looking only at the surface. Numbers are only the simplest form of mathematics. Words are a much higher form of math, than physics. Each one is an incredibly complex segment, in parentheses, that has to be solved, before you can even begin to know how to solve the rest of any equation. But what adds an even greater level of complexity to every word-equation, is that the values, and variables in between those parentheses, in your mind, are not precisely the same values, and variables, that are in between those parentheses, in my mind.

Let the Laughing Buddha, humbly offer, that we are all "uneducated hicks," and that you appear to have misunderstood my word-equation, based on the few extra words, you added to your word-equation, that alter the meaning of the underlying equation, implied in mine. If I may offer my implied equation, as a comparison, in order to resolve the incongruency, simply by leaving off those few extra words, from your's: "The day is long past when a smart person could basically gain a comprehensive understanding of the world." Do you see the difference, now? If so, then you will agree with me, that not everyone needs to know every fact, relating to every subject, nor could we if we tried. We study what either benefits us, or interests us, and it is of no particular interest to me, to study the subjects offered by Baruch, or most other subjects relating to philosophy, particularly because their influence might actually be a detriment to my own originality. The path Laughing Buddha is seeking, leads a much different place, than the path of a physicist(for whom, studying all that he can, of prior physicist's work is essential).

Since I'm confident, being the intelligent person that you are, you will now agree, that we are all "uneducated hicks," perhaps we can now share, "a lack of understanding of the world of facts," without diminishing each-other.

I lived in Butte, if by having a job for exactly 1 day and a room at the Salvation Army qualified as living there. But that was 1976 and Butte at the time was a dirty old mining town and the biggest industry there at the time was the corner bar and the Salvation Army.. and grubby worn down buildings..
Now Darby was a swinging place where there was 1 bar and the biggest day of the year was Loggers day when the town ho, Miss Logger 1976 rode through town on top of the biggest tree they could cut down on the back of a logging truck. She waved, people got really drunk and a good time was had by all.

Then Putin enters a room, the manliness of the room doubles, just because he is there ;-)
