Criminalizing pronouns ...

First the came for my pronouns, but I didn't do anything ... because I am grammar illiterate ...

"Canada passed a law Thursday making it illegal to use the wrong gender pronouns. Critics say that Canadians who do not subscribe to progressive gender theory could be accused of hate crimes, jailed, fined, and made to take anti-bias training.

Canada’s Senate passed Bill C-16, which puts “gender identity” and “gender expression” into both the country’s Human Rights Code, as well as the hate crime category of its Criminal Code by a vote of 67-11, according to LifeSiteNews. The bill now only needs royal assent from the governor general."

Canadians are slaves of the Queen ;-)  Only she can use "we" ;-)

I can never do Canada without being thrown in jail now, and fined 250,000 dollars.

This is fucked up.

This is coming to America, when we all become Californians and flip acid.

I am awesome ...

You are tasty ...

Remember ... most words have multiple usages ... verbs, nouns and adjectives can interchange roles ... so can pronouns.

I have a feeling this is a lot to do about nothing. If I say we're all going to die is Canada going to send a hit squad across the border or have me extradited to stand trial for saying we're?  I have my doubts.
All hail my new signature!

Admit it. You're secretly green with envy.

Turns out this is not true.

Give a link to the status of the Canadian law please.  Did the legislation not pass?  Seems plausible in Trudeau Jr's Canada.

I can't believe this story still has legs. Is this the 3rd or 4th time Bill C-16 has come up on this site? The bill extends to transgender people the same legal protections against discrimination and speech promoting genocide or inciting hatred "likely to result in a breach of the peace" previously offered to "sex, ethnic origin, religion, disability or sexual orientation" in federal jurisdiction. If this legislation criminalizes “mis-gendering” then "mis-religioning" and "mis-ethnicing" must already have been crimes. Anyone care to show that they are?

Don't have a problem with transgender people or what they prefer to be called.  I wouldn't use derogatory words with an African-American for example.  But isn't it more than that ... they want to outlaw "he", "she" etc ... the existing pronouns?  Give us a direct quote from the legislation, and an actual attorney brief on what it means.  We know the devil is in the fine print, every time the legislature acts.

Politicians are frequently misunderstood ... so they claim.  Please enact many laws.  Let them work thru the Canadian courts ... and then case law will be put up or shut up.  This is how the US ended up with over 200 million laws and regs ... you can't have enough laws and regs.

But thanks for the opinion links ... I will look at them.  Same as I review every R or D post on any pending legislation for truthiness ;-)

Read the CBA statement ... it was well written, but has biased political content ...
"could be criminalized for their repugnant or offensive ideas" and "It will advance equality in Canada"

On the first, I find all R and D ideas to be repugnant and their current and past policies to be mass murdering hate crimes (see Vietnam).  There are the interesting "limits on freedom of expression" in France and Germany that Canada is probably copying.  But if you silence anti-semites .. or now jihadis on the Internet .. I can see plenty of reason to prohibit all access to media by R and D folks (they are nazi-commies).  Frankly socialism is the entry drug to communism.  Always has been, ever hear of Fabian?

On the second, if it said "equality under law" I can see no problem.  Otherwise it is just an open statement of Marxism.  And I am wiling to nuke others to protect myself from Marxism.
