My mother, who is a sweet woman whos been through a lot, is more leaning towards conservative, nationalist and royalist, but she is pro gay rights and in general pro on a lot of social issues. We share the belief that if someone wants to come to another country, better be prepared to intergrate into that country and not bring your shit with you.

That said, I still cringe, and my brother, whenever mum buys or asks us to get her daily mail. But regardless, her political beliefs don't make her an uncaring or insensitive woman, she is a very opposite of that.
