words and phrases to lose in 2017

QuoteDiversity --This word is hugely popular at liberal universities where they have diversity officers, administrators of diversity, and diversity quotas. They love to brag about how diverse they are, or how they appreciate diversity. The exception, though, is diversity of ideas, which is highly frowned upon and severely punished in diverse ways.

My bad.

Our college youth, have a challenge, as does every college generation.  Don't give up your idealism, until the disappointments of life have kicked you to the ground enough times ;-)

Panic attack due to strange people .. is Stone Age.  You have to be more than the sum of your stimulus-response to be civilized.  With practice, you can get used to people who are not just like your parents.

Diversity is good. In all forms. Including diversity of thinking. Which, by the way, is encouraged on college campuses.

Diversity of thinking, is not encouraged in any class ... where you get a grade.  Ask my co-ed in Freshman year, who begged to differ from the Professor regarding Plato's Republic.  Diversity at Uni comes at the pub, after a long day at classes, chatting with your bro-s.

If you want diversity, you're probably more likely to find it on a college campus than a NASCAR race.  But everyone risks being offended at institutions of higher learning.  You may not fit in.  There is a certain amount of conformity in diversity to be sure.  White Supremacy Groups are not well tolerated, nor are fanatical suicide bombers.  Bigotry in general is not looked on with favor.  Some people want freedom to oppress others, and those who promote diversity are no exception.

But there are some basic differences between a diversity rally and a cross burning.  You can point to certain similarities, and you can make an interesting point by directing attention to the ironic paradox of it all, but it tends to obscure the point about living together in harmony.  While bigotry and diversity both promote conformity to an ideology, their larger goals are actually quite different.

Harmony doesn't imply uniformity.  But it does imply notes are taken from a compatible musical scale.

In my experience, nothing beats diversity-hating like religious "universities".  Their one true judgement is that if you don't have utter faith in the bibble (and their specific and detailed version of it), your opinion is IMMEDIATELY dismissed.
