"Eleven years ago the Boston Archdiocese announced that it was closing the parish, a reorganization necessitated by the financial settlements after the clergy sex-abuse scandal."

The congregates gave it a good try, but they failed to keep the Catholic spin on Christianity open in the town of Scituate, Mass, because they didn't give enough in the
offertory plate to pay off reparations regarding their child buggering priests. Their last service was on May 29, 2016.

Instead of being spoon fed their doctrine through "cherry picking" of the gospels by their priest, now they're going to have to read the bible on their own. We can only
wonder what will happen when they run across those passages that explicitly show their Jesus in the New Testament with his proposals to be an outright killer, and has
it ever dawned on these people that if Jesus is god incarnate, that he was the biggest SERIAL KILLER known to man, in the Old Testament?

The ruse is slowly ending for all primitive religions, praise ZEUS!

Let's all now feast on our wives/husbands and kids!!!
We must question the logic of having an all-knowing/powerful God, who creates faulty humans, and then blames them for his own mistakes.

The only good church is the one with a for sale sign in front of it.

I came across a lovely native stone church in Pullman, Washington (location of Washington State University) for sale in a residential area.  The rumor was that it was being bought by a developer and was going to be converted into student rental units.  I would think this would have great appeal.  Ever since I saw Alice's Restaurant, I thought renovating an old church would be cool.  The Catholic church in the picture, however, doesn't have much appeal.  It already looks like a rental unit.

A functional Catholic parish has 100 families in it, with plenty of children.  But there is a crisis in clergy, there aren't enough priests ... fewer priests than can cover all the Catholic families.  So even the surviving congregations are on a financial edge.  Ultimately there aren't supposed to be more than 10 million congregations, if there are one billion Catholics ... yeah, seems they are going out of business ;-)  Property consolidation will strengthen their balance sheet.  The real problem is finding 10 million priests!

Look at that glass. Think of the Escher like padded lofts to be built in there.

Oh no.  Won't somebody please think of the children?  Some of those kids are now going to be virgins well into their teens!
This sentence is a lie...

The dynamic is certainly changing.  There are a couple of thousand people in my parish and we only have 2 full time priests.  We have several Masses on Sunday and they're all pretty much full.  On Holy days the place is packed.  It's also interesting to see a lot of young priests from other parts of the world.  Many are coming from Africa and the Philippines.

I get the impression, that the overloading of local parishes, because of not enough priests, and the cost to the diocese of maintaining a lot of small church properties, has been going on for the last several decades ... and is what drives multiple weekend mass.  But really, technically mass is celebrated every day, and people were supposed to go once a day, not just on Sunday.  Orthodox Judaism works the same way.

LOL!  You are a BAD person!

When I was 8 a very attractive female class mate asked me if I'd like to go to Sunday school (First Baptist) with her.  Mistake #1 Flanker!  Don't be blinded by a shiny exterior (I still haven't internalized and accepted this life lesson entirely---in case you were wondering).  So I ran the invite by my Mom (a life long Methodist--waiting for an opportune moment; to ensnare me and my brother in the coils of the church DDOOHH!!); who oddly enough gave it an enthusiastic response and ensnared I was!  DDOOHH!!   Mistake #2 Flanker!

Did I mention we were sentenced to Church services too?   I took notes on all the sermons in case you'd like copies!  :)  They had around 200 members.

Fast forward to now.  They're down to about 14-15 members; all elderly................and no Pastor (not sure what they do really).

You are describing the weakness of congregationalism in the modern world.  When you never went five miles from where you were born, and there was only one church in town, and everyone expected you to go ... this wasn't a problem.  There would always be multiple generations in the same church.  In an episcopal system, the local congregation is just a location where some members meet ... there are always other members meeting elsewhere, and you can easily drive to a different one if you need to do more than care for the elderly.
