I don't write it for them, I write it for me.
I used to say exactly that. I've written and recorded hundreds of songs since I was about 14. I'm now 48. I'm to the point where I'd like to write music that everyone can enjoy. May I hear something you've done? I'd be happy to lay down some guitar. I get the job done quickly. I'm playing the guitar on that track. I'm also playing the organ and bass on the keyboard. I also played the beat. I like to take people's ideas and run with them if they let me.

I get that. You're certainly not the first to come around to that way of thinking. I suspect Herbie Hancock could write a book on it for instance. But I'm not you and I ain't Herbie Hancock. I write what I write because I truly enjoy the process of writing and recording. And while I enjoy and admire tons of stuff that attracts and audience and sells well, that simply isn't the music I want to make nor could make even if I wanted to.

This is the most recent album. It was really just a collections of songs that I had done so its a little more all over the map style wise than I would like. But it gives you an idea of what I do I suppose.

I might be open to that. I'm putting together ideas now for an album that's a bit more ambient than most of what I've done in the past. I'll keep you in mind as that progresses.
Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false and by the rulers as useful

That's very listenable. I listened to the likes of Jarre and Larry Fast when they were big. I've composed a lot of stuff in that vein. Most of it is unfinished. I've recently had the urge to make some New Age, so the music will get appropriated. I can fall asleep to it, but my GF calls it "soulless". I'm going bigger.

Here's some minimalist stuff.

A mutual friend of ours said the old version of the song reminds him of Plush and Alive, so it's not original. Yes, I heard that the 1st time I heard it, but I tried to change it. What was played for me and what I composed are different. It's hard to disguise influence. It's weird when someone doesn't recognize it...like my new jamming buddy. Is it original enough?
