Title: XMuslim woman explains Islam
Post by: pr126 on November 22, 2015, 01:57:37 PM
Why not hear about Islam from a woman who grew up as Muslim in the ME?

Don't know where this woman comes from ... she didn't have an accent.  But she might have been raised Muslim anyway.

Sunnis do emulate Muhammad ... Shia emulate Ali.  Sufis emulate their founding sheik.  All of this is an idolatry.  Putting excessive emphasis on scripture, including Quran, not just Hadith ... is an idolatry.  But I am not saying idolatry is bad ... I am just calling an X an X.

If you insist on emulating anyone, then you better pick a very carefully scripted fiction ... like Jesus ... and I am not sure that even the fictional Jesus matches my ideals.  I am rather fonder of the Buddha ... who is an older model (Jesus is clearly Buddhist influenced) ... but I reject pacifism in both cases.  Neither of my parents are worthy of blind emulation.  But I do notice character traits in real and fictional people that I admire.
