Interesting.
Don't get why ignorance isn't a major issue.

People of Pakistan are quite isolated, they hardly ever meet someone with different views. They can be more vulnerable to bullshit conspiracy theories than say a redneck living in Texas. Like 911 was an American job, huge amount of Pakistani believes this. They don't know why separation of state and church is an important thing, they just think its a western immoral way.
Indeed many problems are happily blamed on the west, especially on America. And since America seems to be in a constant war against Muslim people, people start thinking like us vs them way. Which doesn't help the secular voices over there.

Thanks for the video.

Yes, that radicalization stems from poverty and ignorance is indeed a myth. And teens are more vulnerable as they are in that stage of rebellion - against their parents or any other figure of authority. It's up to parents, teachers and others who can influence them to be vigilant and foster values that are inclusive. It is a challenge, but the alternative is not an option.

The thing is, poverty and ignorance have never been given the sole reasons for relgious extremism. They are given among a lot of complicated issues, cause and effect...etc.

However, it is taken to be seen that way cheerfully, because Western cultures have long defined Islamic countries with poverty and ignorance as opposed to theirs. It's their place. And they are not myths. They are just not the sole reasons, but then anyone who has a little idea about sociology, socio-economy and anthropology knows that.

And of course there is no mention of Western international politics constantly profitting and benefitting from religious extremism. Why, because if you are making a video that you want Westerners to watch/share, you had better not to point to their bullshit. They wouldn't listen it or share it at all. They do not like to be called out on that, but then most of them are living in warm delusion anyway. So get apolitic, appeal to their delusion and blame people, it's easier.

Also it is bullshit and it is bad for you.

Its a vicious cycle, the smarter people are the ones who know how to manipulate others to their cause, the less intelligent will follow them.

I think poverty and ignorance does play a role in places, but its not the main factor as he said. I've always supported the notion that education is the first step into overcoming this need for order though violence, I think in countries where groups like Isis and formed, but also in places like the southern parts of america where more hate groups are formed, there needs to be better education into showing these groups as what they are, not cowering in fear of or ignoring them.

Why do people become Islamic Extremists? For the same reason they become Neo-Nazi Skinheads:

Some of the nuances behind recruitment and ideology can differ, but it's not hard to find someone down on their luck who has a reason to hate the system, tell them the reason their life is bad is because of Christians/America/Jews/Muslims/whatever, and then introduce them to some "forward thinking individuals" trying to solve the problem.

Speaking only for myself ... I don't know any Muslim terrorists.  But people have a need to be important, like any political assassin.  These are people with an inferiority complex trying to compensate by becoming infamous.  Better infamous than anonymous ... if you can't become famous.  People who have better luck in life, develop superiority complexes, and by policy create situations that breed people with inferiority complexes.  The danger that comes from kicking a man while he is down, is that he might get back up!
