Title: Another first for Einstein: Quantum chaos
Post by: josephpalazzo on November 05, 2013, 01:36:39 PM
Another addition to Einstein's brilliant achievements. He was the first to identify two types of motion: regular and chaotic. His 1917 paper was cited by Schroedinger in his seminal paper on QM. But the Einstein paper was forgotten after that until in the 1950's, when it was recognized that Einstein had pounced on what would later be known as chaos theory.

I remember in the movie "IQ"  Einstein is trying to hook Tim Robbins up with his niece, and says, "Are you thinking what I'm thinking?"  Robbins replies, "Yeah?  Like what are the odds of that?" :-D
