The big issue that I believe many of us have with both politicians and theists is that, what's true isn't nearly as important as what they want to believe. First step is to decide what feels right to your gut, then go out and find (or create) the evidence to make it look reasonable, or at least defendable.

When that doesn't work, just keep repeating yourselves over and over until someone takes you seriously. Seems to work for Republicans.

For instance it wasn't the Republicans who almost drove the economy off a cliff and closed down a significant portion of the federal government. It was the president, he was just so stubborn, refusing torrenegotiate that awful, awful health care bill. And when those WWII veterans came to see the memorial dedicated to them, it was the Democrats who made sure the park was closed. It only looked like the tea party was running the show and closing parks.
