Title: Better living through social engineering
Post by: zarus tathra on August 12, 2013, 03:52:42 PM
Okay, AF, let's figure out our ideal society.

Format: A basic term, or vague idea, followed by quantification by measurable factors.

If we were designing a software system, it would look like this:

Quote from: "example"Reliability

99.999% uptime

1.4 second mean response time
Responses of greater than 2.5s represent <1% of requests

That's for a fairly simple, mechanistic, non-political example.

How about this:

QuoteSocial Stability

Less than 45% of population under 20. rationale (//http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Youth_bulge#Youth_bulge)

Birthrate at 95-115% of replacement.

Working population >60%

High literacy

Add - species that's fairly non-combative and fairly cooperative - like cows.  Humans just don't work too well in society.

Define cooperation. Everybody has a different definition of cooperation.

If I were to make a society where all the members agreed it was the ideal society, I would probably get really lonely after a while.
