But, yes. I have heard of this dub. I've never seen it, though. There was also a Dragon Ball game on the NES which had everyone's names changed, and they referred to the Dragon Balls as "crystal balls." They didn't even call it "Dragon Ball" in the West, but changed it to "Dragon Power."
