Title: "Is it okay to still have children?"

"Is it okay to still have children?"

Ocasio-Cortez: People Maybe Shouldn’t Reproduce Due To Climate Change (https://www.dailywire.com/news/43880/ocasio-cortez-people-maybe-shouldnt-reproduce-due-ryan-saavedra)
QuoteDemocratic socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) suggested on Sunday night that people should consider not having children due to climate change because there is a "scientific consensus" that life will be hard for kids.

"Our planet is going to hit disaster if we don't turn this ship around and so it's basically like, there's a scientific consensus that the lives of children are going to be very difficult," Ocasio-Cortez said while chopping up food in her kitchen during an Instagram live video. "And it does lead, I think, young people to have a legitimate question, you know, 'Is it okay to still have children?'

I agree with this wholeheartedly.

But try to sell this to Africans, Muslims with four wives allowed, or anywhere outside the western countries.

Europe is importing millions from the surplus third world because the Europeans stopped breeding.
The American left wants open borders, all welcome?

Where is the logic?

The trend is longstanding but I doubt it has anything to do with climate change.

As with almost everything else, it seems to be about money.

Women have more options, for one. But a new poll also shows that financial insecurity is altering a generation’s choices.

Now to be fair, climate change did make the list.  In 12th place.

Agenda 21, one lost pregnancy opportunity, one more abortion, one more infanticide ... at a time.

I'll address this part that concerns me.  As a member of the "American Left", I do not want open borders.  This is a canard supported for Fox News and the one-dimensional people who get all their comprehension of the world from it.

I believe in secure borders.  I also want people from all over the world to come here.  I just don't want all of our immigrants to come from one place.  Let there be immigrants!  The people brave enough to learn a new culture, society, and history are the best ones.  We want more of them.

But I want them to come from everywhere.  From Sweden and Kenya, from Japan and Tunisia, from China and India, and Russia, and everywhere else.  Just not all from one place.

Lets secure our borders, sensibly.  Drones, technology, patrols, etc.  Walls aren't the way.  If we build 30' walls, I will invest in 35' Mexican ladder companies.  Passive barriers will never work.

Geography matters.
Africa is close to Europe, Mexico and Central America closer to you.

Migrants chose the shortest, cheapest ways.
Also, there is a difference between migrants and immigrants.

Doesn't matter.  I still want people from all over the world to come here.

As long as they don't live in your neighborhood, huh?

All these extra people need housing. They drive up rent. How happy are you with what you're paying your landlord? If you have a house, how happy are your renter friends?

All these extra people have higher crime rates than the white and asiatic population. How happy would you be with higher crime rates?

Idealism is always easier when you don't think about the consequences.

Wow!  It is astonishingly to meet someone as uninformed as you.  Is it deliberate through some sort of far-right brainwashing site or does it just come naturally?  I'm curious.

Immigrants have been slowly moving into my neighborhood for the past 25 years.  I don't mind that at all.  They work hard, keep their properties in good condition, and seem law-abiding.  A police car on my street is a very rare event.

About half the houses on my street are owned and half are rented.  It doesn't seem to make much difference whether owned or rented.  The current neighbors seem like fine people.  I have no problems with them.

And I will say that the neighbors who caused me the most annoyance in the past were "drunk white trash".  By which I mean, loud late night parties, screaming marital spats outside at 3 am, and frequent police visits.

Too many people are reflexively concerned when their neighbors don't LOOK like them or go to the same church but don't pay attention to how they act as neighbors.
