Sure, you might get some charade of independence back, but ultimately your economy, your society is still utterly tied to the global society. Your individuality is dead.
There is no escaping globalism, so it does no good to cry about how evil it is. The best you can do is make sure that, in said global economy and societies, you are the one with the most power... and pretending you aren't going to play the game doesn't mean the rest of the world will stop playing as well. It just means you are that much easier to walk over.

It is not an either/or choice. There are other systems. Social Democracy combines some benefits of both capitalism and socialism, while avoiding some of the weaknesses.
