Jews did the same thing, in Jerusalem during Passover, as Muslims do in Mecca, during the Hajj.  The Christian misunderstanding of Passover is central to their misunderstanding of religion.

Eat when you need food, drink when you are thirsty, abstain from work when you are tired.  Pay no attention to superstitious rules.
