I had McAfee years ago, and uninstalling it WAS a pain in the ass. It was my first venture into the registry, a scary thought, although it was doable, but it was still a pain in the ass. I use AVG now. It's not intrusive and can be uninstalled by clicking "Uninstall AVG". I actually did it for a brief time, just to see how hard it would be. It was easy, and I didn't get spammed with "come back to us" email when it was off my computer. McAfee makes it difficult so that the not so literate will keep it there and continue to pay the annual fee. I would put it in a category just under "scam" software. Things shouldn't be that difficult to get rid of. And if McAfee was actually worth the money, you wouldn't need to get rid of it.
