Title: Security Patches / Website Down Time
Post by: wolf39us on February 13, 2018, 07:26:24 PM
Hello everyone!

Just a heads up, I'm sure most of you have noticed the website down time.

This was due to some borked security patches and PHP issues.  The website is semi-back up.  We didn't lose anything so no worries.  There are some elements that need to be fixed.  I'm working on those now.

Good work, I have faith that you can fix it! Praise Dog!

hmm. appears to be google chrome related. Safari not so much.

Firefox, Safari, Chrome, Opera can’t display the forum on windows 10.

IPad Safari can.

No messages, just a blank page.

Apparently it is an error in the php.ini settings.

1. Enable display_errors in your php.ini
2. Review your error_log file(s).

I'm typing this on chrome right now, but I am having an issue if I try to load it up on Edge. I tried loading it on edge to test it...

Strange though.

I haven’t touched anything on the back end since the 15th.

I’m trying to work it out now.

SUMMARY:

Right, so I had to basically remove all of the modifications on the website to get things rolling again.
Between the update and several mods that were designed for older versions, things just weren't playing nice together.  I am working on piecing the site back together little by little.

As far your avatars, I'm pretty sure those are toast.  Avatars are really not that important though.  I will attempt to restore them, but for the time being, we are back online!

"Recent Posts" link seems to be down.

I'm using the latest Chrome browser.

This is the error I get:
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare template_recent() (previously declared in /home/content/63/10281663/html/Themes/default/Recent.template.php:447) in /home/content/63/10281663/html/Themes/default/Recent.template.php on line 830

The chat was deprecated.  The original project (AJAXchat Blueimp) has been long gone.

We were running a legacy copy.  The version that the server was on was old enough to run it.  That is no longer the case.

If we want a "chat" I can add a shoutbox.

I am pleased we are back online.  But you might be surprised at how much we care about our avatars...

I have my avatar sort of re-added.  But I must say I like the highlighted quotes.  That's good.  Easier to distinguish from the after-comments.

I've saved as much of the avatars as I can, unfortunately they are all mixed in with every upload attachment ever posted on the site.  If there is an absolute need to get an avatar, I can look for it.

I guess I was lucky.  For a day and half I could not get my usual Chrome link to the site to work.  I then went to my Yahoo.com email site and found an email from one of the board users, clicked on the atheist site and was put on.  I resaved that version of the site and could then use that whenever I wanted to get on.  My avatar was never missing, but noticed that the 'likes' were missing and the print was a bit different.

All of the mods have been removed.  I plan to not add too much this time around.  If there's something specific that you'd like to see revived, let us know.

I liked the like button, btw. just sayin'

Hmmm...

Those "« previous next »" thingies navigate to the previous and next threads, not the previous and next pages in the same thread. Like I said before, that was really nifty. (It looked like: "Pages: <Prev 1 [2] 3 Next>   Go Up")

YouTube video's have a special 'share' url under The video.
I always copy and pasted that without any '[]' things and it worked fine. Does that not work anymore?

Is there any way to suppress that behavior? Because suddenly my signature exploded with this large video. I want to link to the video, not drop it in. (I'm very conscious of signature size; small is good.)

Also, the pictures seem to have exploded in size. Gyah.
