Title: Markiplier on Net Neutrality and Ajit Pai Responds to Criticsm
Post by: Shiranu on December 06, 2017, 06:26:07 PM

To say Net Neutrality is a big fucking deal would be one of the understatements of 2017, but it's also a deal that isn't getting nearly the attention it needs.

Alot of this I think comes down to the fact that we are, in essence, powerless to getting fucked over by an unellected power that has immense corporate backing. To that I respond... yeah, that's probably true. But at the same time, we own all the means of production. We are the ones who make the food, the homes, run the power plants, run the military... if the people want, we DO have the power to tell the 1% who exploit the rest of us to fuck off. They can only play this game so long before it will explode in their face. For their sake, I hope they realise that before it does, because it will not end well for them.

But given the response of the aristocracy, it does seem less and less likely they will realise how much they have fucked it before it' stoo late.

I already signed a petition against the FCC, two actually, theres a few online.

Funny I began to talk to my brother about this, but he cut me off right away giving me some crap about how it doesn't interest him because it doesn't effect him. I gave up there if he wants to be that much of a douche.

And yeah I agree, if they push ahead with this, this will be the biggest attack against the common man world wide, this will be the 1% fucking with the everyday joe and joanna in a massive way, and the people will not stand for it. The public will revolt against this, and it will be a unified thing, unlike a political debate, nobody but the ones in power controlling this will benefit.

The common man is always the enemy of the State ... foreign common or domestic common :-)  Read some history.  Bend over and take a shiv from your betters, sheeple ;-))  The purpose of society, is to create a winner/loser structure were the Elite live off of the non-Elite.  Mankind has never had a different system, since civilization started.  Marx was a fantasist.  But personally, I would prefer that the Internet not be divided into R-channel high speed, D-channel low speed, and I-channel no speed at all.  But it is what it is.

Sorry, the governments could "crowbar" the whole internet, stop video and audio streaming in particular, shut down all the unnecessary spam and porn ... and the world would come to an end?  Really.  I remember 1995, when the Internet wasn't much of a thing.  In fact, if y'all had to go back to rotary phones, and dropped all your 4G network crap ... the State would have a much harder time preventing the storming of the Bastille, relative to where we are now.  Got croissants and brie?

I'm certain some people remember a time before penicillin was popular too. Those good old leeches made the world such a homely place.

I remember a time before the internet too, and you know, it was fucking boring, and tedious, and information was limited to what newspapers told us to believe. Those weren't good times, they were simply the times we lived in.

I like iCrap .. but don't you be dependent on it.  MS = makes me think of multiple sclerosis, not that shit hole in Seattle.  If you really cared, you would be running Linux anyway, and using P2P to communicate.

Remember when Obama claimed to have the "kill switch" on the Internet?  The Dems would love for him to have pulled that switch, about 2 years ago ... you know, to stop fake news like Uranium One ;-))

Totalitarianism never happened, except to the Soviet Union, and only until 1991 (sarc).  The US is a totalitarian society .. but of a new kind ..

You will learn to love Big Brother (R party) or Big Sister (D party).

Don't worry, the hyperinflation of the BitCoin scam will permit a few people to buy the whole planet ... and then they can order you and I evicted!

Nothing new ... Tudor Britain was a family-run dictatorship.

The ISPs have to be considered like telephone companies.  Carriers, not controllers.  Future freedom depends on it.

In terms of the need of the government for wiretaps ... they are treated like the phone companies ;-)  No present freedom, so don't expect any future freedom either.  Just people deluded by marketing and propaganda.

So I am demanding freedom, and you are saying we have none in the present.  I'll take future hopes.

Eh, a bunch of Japanese women groping an oversized wooden dong while grandma sucks on a penis shaped iced lolly isn't the kind of penis festival I hoped for

Munch is ignorable.  And I wear baseball-style hats.  A lot of them.

I once went downtown DC on Halloween ans some guy was wearing a 8' Penis costume.

So I won't wear a penis or pussy hat.  Nope.  Too boring.

Aww that's cold. I once wore a giant condom costume for a sexual health organization promotion. So guess that means I need to fold myself over you?

Capitalist freeways.  Fast lane, slow lane.  Cheap lane, expensive lane.  You can bet you are on the slow, expensive lane.

This is Portugal (http://www.businessinsider.com/net-neutrality-portugal-how-american-internet-could-look-fcc-2017-11) right now.  This is what real people have to deal with in non-net neutrality countries.

Also, say hello to throttling and "fast lanes" (they're not actually fast, everything else is just super slow).

It might not happen overnight, but it'll happen.  And people will get used to it, maybe even grow to like it this way.  It's amazing what people can get used to over time.

The capitalist way is to make a profit center out of everything.  Pay toilets for everyone.  Don't like it?  Then just stop defecating, loser!

Not your species?  Are you the alien mother from Alien?  Now that was a feminist!

I'm not sure I could channel the Alien Queen.  To far down in my reptilian brain to access rationally.  I don't think she was "feminist" though.  Too instinctual.  On the other hand, she DID get that from the Prometheus humanoid...  I guess it would take a woman to decide about the Alien Queen.
