Same, I've got a pretty big TV screen but I never watch regular television anymore, only use it to play games or watch movies. it's very obvious mainstream media wants to control the spread of information their way, and it's why right now 'controversial' videos on places like YouTube get targeted because it doesn't want the general public spreading facts about the real world, rather it wants to buy that right.
But the internet now is to big now to let mainstream corporations take that away, people find ways of getting around it.
I also use VPN (Ipvanish) on all of my devices.
More security, and keeps out nosy people on what I am surfing.

Media of any kind will be used by its owners and benefactors to sow societal fabric and tailor it towards a particular point of view. It has been like that since its inception. It's nothing new. It indeed is very obvious.
The trick is to be a smart, informed viewer; to filter out the junk, the unwanted viewpoints. That's a much better approach to replacing reputable "mainstream" sources like NYT, WaPo, and WSJ with Alex Jones and Breitbart.

So you rather listen to non-fact checked, admittedly biased (or more often, not admittedly) sources with no accountability that is written by people without formal journalistic training telling you to be afraid over organizations that base their entire reputation on fact checking their information and upholding certain standards, all while generally admitting their bias but leaning not too far from centre either way.
All while saying other people are biased and only you have the true truth.

Not all the time, but worryingly often the "I think for myself, I research for myself" people are liars. I can't tell you how many times I've seen creationists or anti-vaxxers or conspiratards falsely claim to be rational, critical thinkers.

I at least provided a link, at the time, in the Forbidden Zone ... to a supposed reveal by Rudy Juliani about Pizzagate. I think I and everyone thought that it wasn't a real quote from Rudy Juliani. Doesn't prove or disprove what it said though.

Has anyone ever met anyone who claims to be too stupid to understand basic information? Probably not. Everyone believes themselves to be smarter than everyone else. You just don't hear of anyone who claims or brags that they'll buy just any old bullshit the media throws out for consumption.
I'm pretty much convinced that the average citizen really is too stupid to make an informed decision about much of anything much less elections. After all, republicans keep getting elected and it's not because the average voter is really smart.

Ginsu ;-) Ginsi is how you get, after you have accidentally cut yourself too many times with too sharp a knife. A friend of mine in HS, gave a set to his mother. She nearly cut her finger off accidentally. Boy did he have live with guilt. Of course she was the one misusing it.

I actually did the "tossing the tomato at it". It cut it in half. I love the ginsu knives for when serrated ones are appropriate. Otherwise, I use my Tridents.. And I keep those sharp as razors...
