Title: More worthless words of mere fiction ....
Post by: Baruch on April 11, 2017, 07:22:08 AM
“The world says: 'You have needsâ€" satisfy them. You have as much right to it as the rich and the mighty. Do not hesitate to satisfy your needs; indeed, expand your needs and demand more.' This is the worldly doctrine of today.

And they believe that this is freedom. The result for the rich is isolation and suicide, and for the poor, envy and murder.”

Fyodor Dostoyevsky, The Brothers Karamazov

The rich can resort to murder just as easily as the poor can resort to suicide.

And if the rich prefer isolation, then why do they enjoy the limelight so much?

Rich people don't usually kill others themselves, they hire others to do that.  It is called the Army.  Egomania is found at all social levels ... the isolation he means is ... you are likely to be kidnapped, if you don't have armed guards protecting you and your family.

In my experience with suicide, poverty isn't the reason people blame.
