Title: Last question and I will delete my account, I promise! Does this prove souls?
Post by: Manga on April 08, 2017, 09:02:39 PM
This is a video about a blind person who was apparently able to see during her OBE and NDE.

It is a short video. Collected by Kenneth Ring, who advocates for souls, and afterlife. What do you think?

Note: people born blind at birth do not see in their dreams, so if this woman actually saw, it could mean something (maybe)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WYiJ_qBnEDo

If this blind person really saw during her NDE, do you think this would prove the existence of souls as she never saw in dreams before? Her brain wouldn't know what vision looks like, so the fact that she could see things may prove something.

It proves that people see into things what they want to see.

The brain is wired for sight, even if it has never experienced it before.

Everything you see, happens inside your head, whether you can see or not.

Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

It's a nice door. I'd hate it if something were to happen to it.

You cannot delete your account, at least when I browsed the forum information.  You can join, but you cannot unjoin.  When I browsed the membership list, it showed a membership with 200 times the people that actually participate.  Some are probably dead, but you can't delete your account.  So if you are being chased by hit men from the CIA, or you need to become unreachable for your own safety, you are out of luck.  When the religious majority or the government comes to kill you, they will check the forum membership first and trace it back to you.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

Oddly, I didn't write that entirely in jest.  I'm not planning on leaving the forum, but if I did, I'd prefer to it without leaving a footprint.  Although the consequences would unlikely be as dramatic a I put it, there could be other unforeseen and undesirable consequences.

The purpose of social media back to AOL .. is to provide a trail to who the traitors are and where they are ;-)  This is like Mao's "Let a Thousand Flowers Bloom" campaign of the 1950s ... to identify who the running dogs of capitalism are.

You could expand on that.
Why is it a bad thing to be called a boob, or a pussy? They are lovely things I most enjoy. Being called a Dick? I have one, it's Nice to have and very dear to me. Being called an ass or an asshole? Asses can be beautiful, and everyone has assholes. They are quite usefull to THE human existance.
Stephen fry once remarked in Some clip that it's strange we take all these wonderous things we use for enjoyable recreation and even to bring forth THE miracle of new life and feel THE need to censor them. (Paraphrasing here.) Yet we feel most comfortable saying words which concern THE darkest, worst aspects of humanity. Words like torture, tyrant, kill, ... . 'Work was torture'. 'My Boss is such a tyrant.' 'Yo man, you killed out there!' All these words get a free pass from everyone. But say 'Work was shit'. 'My Boss is a dick.' Or 'you fucking ruled out there.' In front of someone sensitive or someone With children, (All natural human parts and behaviors,) and there is a Good chance you'll get called out for it.

So true.  Do you suppose religion gets a large share in why we do that?  I think so.  Religion teaches that sex is bad--nudity is bad--bodies are our temple, but don't look at them or touch them.  Pleasure derived from our bodies is bad.  Think religion is more about control than spirituality?  Yeah, me too.  The Adam and Eve thing was a stroke of genius for some control freak.  Half the population now under your control.  Not bad for a days work.

The meme didn't mention being gay.   It mentioned being a faggot.  I'm using it in the British sense here.

It's still derogatory and sexist.  But at least it doesn't attack the OP's sexual orientation.

I can't say that was clear, in any case.

I don't really know how the term 'faggot' became equated with homosexuality.  But a fag can be a cigarette.  And they are also a type of construction bolt.

I suspect the term originates from "faggot-carriers" meaning old women carrying fallen branches for fires.  The connection to womanly males would make some sense there.

But it is a prejorative with no modern meaning and no value in modern society.

One of the best things I ever heard was an episode of Fry's English Delight on Radio 4, all about the history, etymology, and myriad uses of the word 'fuck', the use of which word the program(me) did not shy away from.  Supremely recommended (as well as the rest of the series).

One of the reasons I still like them, I guess.
Before Johnny Carson, the Tonight Show was hosted by several other more short lived celebrities.  One I liked very much was Steve Allen.  One of his recurring skits always began with a rag on whatever happened to the great poets of antiquity?  His thesis was that they had moved on to writing rock and roll lyrics, and then he would pull out some recent hit, I suppose selected for it's absurdity, and read it like a poet in a coffee house with all the poetic pauses and the other oral enhancements one would give to poetry reading.

Well, I guess you had to be there.  I though it was a hoot.  My sister was too young to understand the humor of nonsense, and my mother would just roll her eyes, but my father and I would roll around on the floor laughing until we had tears in our eyes.

Sounds like the bees-knees daddy-o ... Doby Gillis much?  Satirizing the Existentialist French scene perhaps.

I can see that.  Steve Allen was an entertainment polymath anyway.  That reminds me, I need to see if I can track down his series, Meeting of Minds.

But I was there...............on the floor.  Steve Allen one of my favs.  the Man On The Street skits were some of my favorites.  I think Don Knotts was introduced in one of these.  I laughed at him until my belly ached--and both my parents did the same.  I also remember the poet in the coffee shop skits, as well.  Loved them.

That's where Knotts perfected his 'nervous man' persona.  I have seen clips, and they're wonderful.  Also, didn't Bill Dana (aka "Jose Jimenez") start off with Allen?

Yeah, it could have been his start.  I thought his character was actually funnier than Knotts.

Looks like he started as a writer for the Steve Allen Show, and has written a lot for TV, including being the creator of the Maxwell Smart "Would you believe...?" jokes.  And is still alive (http://www.bill-dana.com/pages/index.html).

I never tired of Knotts and his nervous man routine.  Dana started there and so did Tom Poston.

I think the Hispanic Male Nurse in 'The Right Stuff' solved that problem well.  No jokes about that after that.

There was a time when someone who didn't know what he was doing attempted to delete a bunch of old members and wound up deleting *way* too many user names from the database. Hundreds and thousands of posts disappeared.

I had to restore the entire forum from a backup that I had luckily taken a few days before because during the restore process something messed up and everybody's user name showed up as aitm.

True story!
