This song was part 5 of "The Ninth Wave" on the "Hounds Of Love" album from 1985. The music is traditional folk tunes collected by her brother Paddy Bush. Kate wrote the lyrics for the first part of the song, while the poem in the last part was read and written by her oldest brother John Carder Bush.

I was introduced to Kate Bush, with the album "Hounds of Love," in 1986. The guy who turned me on to her music, said she has a rare 5-octave vocal range. I don't know if that's true, but she has a remarkable voice, and some of the most creative melodies, in her songs. A lot of it is very Macabre. "Under Ice" is a very short and unnerving story of a girl, skating alone, falling through the ice, and drowning. Give it a listen:
